Teaching
At Michigan State University, I have taught Urban Politics, Public Policy, Education Policy, Urban Policy, and more.
Here are some of my recent course syllabi:
PLS 392: Education Policy, Spring 2018 (an undergraduate course that included data analysis skills taught in a “flipped classroom” model)
PLS 822: Urban Government and Politics, Fall 2022 (PhD seminar in Urban Politics)
I am a member of the MSUvote Committee where I support efforts to promote voting and participation among students. In this role I created an informational presentation that instructors can use to share timely voting information with their students for the 2022 midterms. This is based on research published in Political Behavior.
I have also served as lead instructor, and co-director (with program founder, Josh Sapotichne) of the InnovateGov Program, a 10-week summer internship program in Detroit.
Here is the Summer 2018 syllabus for InnovateGov.
